“Singer Sewing Machine”

Mexico
Oil on metal
Date: “1931”
8 1/8 x 12 1/4 in.
Inventory# Y937

The same painter as Y-938. It's not clear whether the woman prays to the Virgin of Guadalupe or the Singer Sewing Machine that by the 1930s had definitely become a household icon. Whose mother or grandmother never had a ‘run-in’ with a sewing machine needle similar to this little girl Ofelia Camano, the subject of this charming exvoto. Excellent condition.

$800.
